Removal of vegetation at Mt Perry – Update

Nov 30, 2018 | Front Page Feature, News

The recent removal of vegetation from the Mt Perry Sport and Recreation Centre surrounds has been investigated, with Council concluding that the incident is the result of a serious misunderstanding between the parties involved. Council fully appreciates that this has resulted in an unfortunate situation that has caused significant distress to members of the Mt Perry community.

Council is not apportioning blame or pursuing any legal action in respect of the matter.  Council feels the best and most productive way forward is to reinstate the gardens in collaboration with Gidarjil and the Mt Perry community.  Council will convene a further meeting with the Mt Perry community to develop a restoration plan and will look to have the area reinstated as soon as possible.  Further details regarding the public meeting will be forthcoming.

For further information regarding this update please contact Council’s General Manager Corporate and Community on 1300 696 272 (1300 MY NBRC) or email Council.
