QFES UPDATE - Gayndah – grass fire as at 3pm Fri 22 Jun

Multiple Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews are on scene at a grass fire burning near Pineapple Street, Porter Street and Archers Lookout, Gayndah.

This fire broke out about 12.15pm today. Crews are conducting backburning operations in the area and are protecting nearby structures. Nearby residents may be affected by smoke throughout the afternoon.

Residents are asked to close windows and doors, and keep their medications close by if suffering from a respiratory condition. Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions. If residents are concerned their property is under threat they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately. #NBRC #QFES #GetReadyNorthBurnett

QFES has advised that a sustained run of bushfire activity in recent years has propelled the Burnett up the list of Queensland’s major bushfire hotspots. With the bushfire season starting earlier and lasting longer, residents are reminded to be proactive by mowing the lawn regularly, preventing overgrowth on large properties, removing dry or dead leaf litter and keeping flammable items away from the home.
