Works at Claude Wharton Weir complete

Oct 18, 2018 | Front Page Feature, News

North Burnett Regional Council Mayor Cr Rachel Chambers has advised that stage two of the Claude Wharton Weir recreational area upgrade is complete.

“The second stage of the project, funded through Council’s 2018-19 capital projects budget for approximately $35,000 has seen the installation of a boat landing at the site,” Mayor Chambers said.

“September 2017 saw the completion of stage one of the Claude Wharton Weir recreational area upgrade, funded through Round One of the State Government’s ‘Works for Queensland’, which included clearing of overgrown vegetation, preparation of a grassed day area and building of a beach front by placement of a retaining wall adjacent to the boat ramp.”

The boat landing will provide a separate, deeper area for boating and skiing enthusiasts to park and launch their boats, and ensure the safety of residents utilising the beach front area.  It is anticipated that the new boat landing will be open to the public tomorrow Friday, 19 October 2018, weather permitting.
