North Burnett Seniors get Tech Savvy

Jun 26, 2018 | Front Page Feature, News

North Burnett seniors can improve their digital literacy for free as the Tech Savvy Seniors Queensland program returns to North Burnett Regional Council Libraries.

Library consultation workshops held throughout the region to identify key objectives for the Libraries 2020 Strategic Plan identified a growing need for technology training and support.

Tech Savvy Seniors Queensland will again provide an opportunity for training to older Queenslanders in basic digital literacy and encourage them to use technology to connect with family and the broader community. Seniors can sign up to learn how to use a tablet device, navigate social media, shop online and access government services.

An initiative of State Library of Queensland, Tech Savvy Seniors Queensland is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Telstra that will see Queensland Local Governments deliver training through their local public libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres.

Tech Savvy Seniors Queensland joins a suite of initiatives, introduced by the Queensland Government, aiming to improve older Queenslander’s access to online information and services.

Join one of the small, friendly training group sessions supported by local library staff where you can learn new skills to help you get connected and take the first step to becoming tech savvy.

For more information on training times, to sign up for a Tech Savvy Seniors Queensland session or to find out about our other programs, visit your local library, call 1300 696 272 (1300 MY NBRC) or email Council at admin@northburnett.qld.gov.au.
