Glossy Black Cockatoo

Sep 6, 2018

In 2005, North Burnett Regional Council started a partnership with the  Glossy Black Conservancy. Members of the partnership are from across South East Queensland and North East New South Wales. The Conservancy aims to raise the profile of the threatened species. This includes educational events with training in identification of the Glossy Black Cockatoo.

The Glossy Black Cockatoo is a very quiet, shy bird, that often goes unnoticed. It is usually only found in pairs and feeds only on she-oaks, with a rare nibble on other plants.
