Jul 29, 2016 | News

As part of North Burnett Regional Council’s Capital Budget program, work will soon commence on the footpath correction and reseal in Lyons Street, Mundubbera. The footpath resurfacing is the final stage of works which has included water pipe replacement, kerb and channel works and road asphalt surfacing.

The following works are scheduled to commence as of Monday, 1 August:

  • Monday, 1 August – app 3-4 days.  Scraping back of existing footpath surface (where required) – Commencing at the bottom end of Lyons Street (Jacobi’s and Bottom Pub end). Businesses are advised that this procedure may create a lot of dust and it is recommended that no products or food are displayed on the footpath during this period;
  • Monday, 8 August – app 3-4 days.  Footpath surface preparation.  Businesses are advised that shop fronts will be washed to remove dust build up during this stage;
  • Monday, 15 August – app 3-4 days – Sealing of footpath.

Council appreciates that these works have resulted in substantial disruption to businesses and residents alike, however, where possible, this disruption has been minimised.  We trust that community members will find the completed project has improved safety and accessibility for pedestrians and motorists and be aesthetically pleasing.  If you have any significant factors which you believe council should be aware of prior to the next stage of works, please contact council’s Engineering Department immediately.

Council wishes to advise that there may be inconveniences to businesses and pedestrian during this stage of works, however Council will endeavour to ensure access to individual businesses is maintained at all times.  Appropriate signage and barricades will be in place.  Motorists and pedestrians are requested to travel with extreme care and responsibility, to drive / walk to the prevailing road / pavement conditions and to adhere to signage.  Council apologises for any inconvenience caused whilst this work is being completed and thanks businesses and the public for their co-operation and patience whilst this work is in progress.
