Australia Day Weekend Arts & Cultural Project – Eidsvold
Enjoy 2 days of inclusive Cultural Learning for beginners through to experienced enthusiasts in the creation of Aboriginal artefacts and art, led by respected Aboriginal artist Lionel Cubby.
DAY 1: Men’s Business (Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal Men and Boys only) Saturday, 26 January: Departing 9:00am from the RM Williams Centre, Eidsvold . Reconnecting men and boys to Country, passing on knowledge to younger generations. This day will be boys and men travelling by bus going onto Country and learning from Lionel about different timbers and their uses. Learn how to safely select and collect these timbers. Learn the process of creating artefacts from the collected timbers.
DAY 2: Community Arts Day & Sausage Sizzle Lunch (Families Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal) Sunday,27 January: 10:00am Start at the RM Williams Centre, Eidsvold. Connecting the North Burnett Community, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal. A Community Arts Day for men, women and children! Artist Lionel will explain and encourage the value of Aboriginal art both traditional and contemporary styles and techniques. All participants will have the opportunity to paint and share the story of their own masterpiece.
Join in an inclusive sausage sizzle lunch to showcase the collection of timbers and painted artworks created over the weekend. $2 for sausage in bread.
