Have your final say on North Burnett’s Economic Development and Innovation Strategy
Mayor Rachel Chambers today announced the release of the North Burnett Economic Development and Innovation Strategy for final public comment.
Developed with community, council was delighted with the engagement and great ideas stemming from regional community workshops. These ideas were then put to an expert consultant who analysed the economic, technological and demographic trends.
The Strategy charts our way forward as an innovation leader – a destination for business, investment and skills. We will build on our traditional strengths – agriculture, mining, tourism, and natural resources – to drive economic growth and employment, whilst leveraging new trends and technology to diversify and expand our economy.
“Gone are the days of documents full of good ideas sitting on a shelf, this is a strategy with an end goal and an action plan to support local business and investment,” Mayor Chambers said.
“We would like to thank everyone who provided valuable feedback and insight to assist in developing the priorities in this Strategy.
It is the Action Plan which is the essential driver in ensuring the Strategy is realised and I am happy to say that some of these actions are already in progress.”
The Strategy and accompanying Action Plan will be available to view at all North Burnett Regional Council Customer Services Centres/Libraries, Council’s display at regional shows and online at www.northburnett.qld.gov.au/EcDev-Strategy.
We value your comments. Did we get it right? Let us know online, over the phone or face to face in our Customer Service Centres/Libraries or when you see us around the region at the local shows.
Public comments close 10 May 2019.
