Council is continually increasing our efficiencies with the aim to divert as much recyclable waste as possible from going into our region’s landfills.  We are excited to be able to offer cardboard recycling at the Biggenden and Gayndah Waste Management Facilities.

Over 300 tonnes of recyclable cardboard has been diverted from North Burnett landfills since July 2016.

During the trial period commercial and household cardboard can be placed into the cardboard recycling skip bins at each site at no charge.  The trial is in place until the end of June, with potential for it to be extended.  There is no provision for tipping bulk loads of cardboard into these bins.  Cardboard which is not flat will incur a fee of $5.00 per cubic metre.

There are also commercial cardboard recyclers currently servicing the Biggenden and Gayndah town areas for the collection of bulk clean cardboard.

Cardboard and paper can also be recycled at the Mundubbera, Eidsvold and Monto Waste Management Facilities.  For more information on how you can recycle in the North Burnett please go to our waste-management page.

For further information on the cardboard recycling trial, please contact Council’s Environmental Services team on 1300 696 272 (1300 MY NBRC) or email admin@northburnett.qld.gov.au.
