Burnett Highway – Gayndah TMR pedestrian facility works

Apr 2, 2020 | Front Page Feature, News

The Department of Transport and Main Roads will construct a pedestrian refuge on the Burnett Highway and replace and upgrade the existing pedestrian facilities at the Warton and Meson Street intersection in Gayndah.

Commencing early April 2020 the North Burnett Regional Council will undertake construction which is expected to take about four weeks to complete, weather permitting.

The $83,500 project funded under the Queensland Government’s Safer Roads Sooner Program as part of the Vulnerable Users Subprogram, aims to improve safety for pedestrians by providing kerb blister protection and reducing the crossing distance required.

The new pedestrian refuge will cater for pedestrians with prams or mobility issues. Tactile ground indicators will be installed to assist the vision impaired.

The department thanks you in advance for your patience and cooperation while the upgrade works are completed.
