North Burnett Regional Council Mayor Rachel Chambers has welcomed the Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services approval of the extension of the jointly funded Commonwealth/State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) for the North Burnett Regional Council area.

The Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) are a joint funding initiative of the Commonwealth and State Governments to provide disaster relief and recovery payments and infrastructure restoration to help communities recover from the effects of natural disasters. Most relief measures under NDRRA are funded 75% by the Commonwealth Government and 25% by the Queensland Government.

The area defined for receipt of the NDRRA relief measures is “Communities within the Central Coast area affected by severe weather, heavy rainfall and flooding, 16 – 19 October 2017”.

The following relief measures are now in place for the North Burnett region:
• Natural Disaster Assistance (Concessional Loans) for Primary Producers;
• Essential Working Capital Loans Scheme for Primary Producers;
• Freight Subsidies for Primary Producers.

Rachel Chambers explained, “Along with the above relief measures, Council will continue to work for the best interest of our community and take every opportunity to argue for the needs of our residents”.

“Council has made and will continue to make representations to all levels of Government for appropriate assistance for our community,” Mayor Chambers said.
