Merry Christmas from the Mayor

I love this time of year. Not just because of the shiny decorations which indulge my addiction for all things “bling”, not just because it means holiday time for many but because it’s the only time of year we collectively and deliberately stop and let our loved ones know how much they mean to us. Many times this love is expressed through gifts but personally the best gift of all is time spent with family and friends.

This is also the time of year we reflect on the year that was, the year of a new council with a new vision. As mayor of this fabulous region I’ve spent this year trying to strike a balance between planning for the future and getting projects up and running that the community can enjoy and benefit from immediately. This gig is a lot of work but I have loved almost every minute of it and thank you for the opportunity to contribute to the region.

To everyone who has worked hard throughout the year, from the industry leaders who have been the backbone of our region since its beginnings, the small business owners who are the thread which holds our region together, to our wonderful community volunteers and everyone in between, my heartfelt thanks to you all. You give the North Burnett strength and help make it a great place to work, live and play. I hope you find some time for a well-earned rest.

On behalf of my fellow Councillors and Council staff I wish you all a safe and relaxed Christmas season, doing things which make your heart happy.

Please drive safe if you are travelling, and if you are at home, I hope you have the time to enjoy our beautiful waterways, spectacular sunsets and starry nights.
