Council progresses cost savings

Sep 20, 2017 | Front Page Feature, News

Where possible, Council continues to progress cost savings throughout the region, including decommissioning of public assets which have passed their useful life.

Following upgrades to the Biggenden Memorial Hall amenities funded through the State Government’s 2015-16 Community Resilience Fund, the external toilet block located at the Biggenden Memorial Hall was identified as surplus to requirements. Works to demolish the dated amenities, budgeted through Council’s 2017-18 Capital Budget, are scheduled to commence on Thursday, 21 September 2017 and are expected to be of two weeks duration, weather permitting.  Alternate public amenities can be found at Lions Park, Apex Park and Beiers Park.

The scope of works will include the demolition of the existing external toilet block, laying of turf over the demolition site, and replacement of a small section of footpath. The removal will also reduce the costs associated with the cleaning and maintenance of these facilities.

Council apologises for any inconvenience caused whilst this work is in progress.
