Business support for local entrepreneurs to start up business

Mar 6, 2019 | Front Page Feature, News

North Burnett Regional Council’s Economic Development team is developing and facilitating a suite of business support services to assist North Burnett businesses.  The team has recently partnered up with the Federal Government’s Entrepreneurship Facilitator Program and is delighted to advise that Rebecca Corbett has been assigned to the North Burnett region to deliver business support services. Rebecca has over fifteen (15) years experience working with small businesses across many industries to improve their growth strategies, profits and sustainability. Rebecca has been a successful business owner, commencing her business Tally and Tick in 2015, and selling the business some four (4) years later.

The Entrepreneurship Facilitator Program is based on supporting aspiring entrepreneurs and small business people in the Wide Bay – Burnett region to receive practical assistance and support through local Entrepreneurship Facilitators such as Rebecca.  Support is wide ranging from general advice about starting and running a business to tailored mentoring and assistance.  Assisting people understand what’s required to start or grow a small business, develop a marketing strategy, understand cash flow and develop a budget are just some of the services that facilitators can offer.

Anyone considering entrepreneurship or self-employment can access this service.  In particular, the team encourages entrepreneurship among mature age Australians, especially those at risk of losing their job due to redundancy.

Speaking about the business support programs currently on offer, North Burnett Regional Council’s Economic Development Manager advised that it was timely that the Federal Government has come up with this type of business support as it linked right in with Council’s Start Up Business Workshops that are being rolled out throughout the region (See the dates and times listed below).

At these workshops you are able to meet Rebecca and her team of facilitators and can sign up to the Entrepreneurship Facilitators program on the night. This initiative is welcomed as we understand that businesses who seek business support and mentoring in their first twelve months of start-up phase have a far better chance of sustaining themselves into the future.  Most people go into business because they are passionate about what they want to do.  Many businesses fail because they do not know what is required to operate a successful profitable business.  Council is seeking to close that gap and empower our local entrepreneurs with the knowledge they need to successfully operate and manage a business.   This knowledge will be shared in our Start up business workshops.

If you require business assistance and support to help you plan for your business success, please do not hesitate to contact North Burnett Regional Council’s Economic Development Manager on email or by phone 1300 696 272 (1300 MY NBRC).  Please save the dates for the ‘Are you ready for Business’ workshops as shown below.
