North Burnett Regional Council

The North Burnett is located in Queensland, approximately four hours drive north of Brisbane and one hour west of Bundaberg. The region encompasses six main townships - Biggenden, Eidsvold, Gayndah, Monto, Mt Perry and Mundubbera which service around twenty-five villages and farming catchments.

Biggenden - bushfire as at 4.35pm Wed 28 Sep - Five Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews are working with local landowners to contain a bushfire burning near Biggenden Mines Road, Biggenden. This fire broke out around 1pm today and is posing no threat to property at this time. Crews are currently conducting back burning operations and creating firebreaks to keep the fire contained. The fire is expected to burn for several days and Biggenden residents may experience a smoke haze during this time. Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions. Residents are advised to close windows and doors and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medications close by. If residents are concerned their property is under threat please dial Triple Zero (000) immediately.

You might have heard that the North Burnett Regional Council website has had a facelift! That’s right! A new, more functional, mobile friendly website using current technology has hit the internet!

The new website went live earlier this month... We encourage all locals and visitors to the region to make our new website your first search point and single point of truth for information and news. This initial roll-out of the website is just the first stage in an ongoing process. Council will be working to get the new website more functional to assist you with processing payments, service requests and other interactive processes online, at a time convenient to you.

As part of North Burnett Regional Council’s successful Stronger Communities Programme submission, work is scheduled to commence on the construction of a gazebo in Edward Street, Biggenden on Monday, 19 September.

Council wishes to advise that pedestrian access across Edward Street at this location (between Biggenden Newsagency and Burnett Livestock & Realty) will be inaccessible for approximately one week whilst construction is in progress.
