(10-03-17) Water Mains Replacement Program – Monto

Water mains replacement works are currently progressing in Monto as part of North Burnett Regional Council’s Capital Works program, as budgeted in the 2016-17 period.

Residents are advised that works are scheduled to continue on water mains connected to the Monto Reticulated Water Supply along Flinders Street (from Forrest Street through to Burke Street), Monto, over the next four (4) weeks, weather permitting. Some residents may experience temporary water disruptions whilst water mains replacement works are carried out.  As per North Burnett Regional Council’s Customer Service Standards, Council aims to provide effected residents with at least 48 hours notice prior to the event.

On occasion, the water supply system may be interrupted by acts outside of Council’s control. Currently, due to a combination of reactive soils and extended dry weather, there has been an increased frequency of water main breaks across the Council region. There is no reason to expect any linkage between the main breaks and the current main replacement works.  For unplanned events, Council is unable to provide any notice, however Council aims to restore the connection as quickly and effectively as possible.

Council is actively working to reduce the impact of water disruptions to residents whenever possible. The ongoing, proactive renewal of water mains and prioritising of replacements will ensure that future breaks and any associated risks are minimised.

Effected residents are reminded that when reconnected, flushing of taps may be necessary as discoloration of water may occur during the period of work. Note: Please exercise air bleed of hot water system following any scheduled maintenance.
